Pull on those heart strings for Valentine’s Day

It’s time to say goodbye to January folks, and welcome February.

Every year we celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th, and this lighthearted holiday is meant to be celebrated with family, friends, and maybe even with a special someone.

February 14th is a day that people all around the world looks forward to, especially high school students.

Each year, students bring gifts to school to share with their friends or sweethearts, such as:

  • Heart-shaped chocolates
  • Bouquet of flowers
  • Personalized cards
  • Cute stuffed animals

Valentine’s Day gifts can be anything, as long as it’s special in its own way.

Although, this affectionate holiday is meant to be about doing something special for loved ones, not everyone can muster up the optimistic spirit.

For instance, Valentine’s Day technically should be an all year expectation. Some people think that it’s overrated because everyday we get the chance to be with loved ones; therefore any day can be Valentine’s Day, as long as you are spreading the love.

Another thought is for anyone who is single, as they might be feeling a bit down on this overly romantic day. Being single on Valentine’s Day sure might feel like a big slap to the face for people-looking-to-mingle.

Don’t worry, if you are one of those people, you can look forward to Singles Appreciation Day on February 15th!

One of the many downsides to Valentine’s Day is how often people in relationships get hung up on finding gifts for their significant other. Being in a relationship during February 14th can be very stressful, considering the gift giving is the most anticipated part of the holiday.

Pro tip: Only the best gifts come from the heart, which is very corny, I know. For example, this can include spending quality face-to-face time with family, watching rom-coms, simply going out with friends, or treating yourself to whatever your heart desires.

Valentine’s Day will always be celebrated differently by each person, as long as it is special to them.

Be sure to enjoy Valentine’s Day your very own way — I know I will with my couch and the all the Twilight movies.
