As the year progresses, and the days get colder and shorter, people seem more interested in staying indoors.

I’m sure many of you can relate.

Most people prefer to be snuggled under a blanket, in their comfortable pajamas, and drinking some hot cocoa. However, there is always a surprise waiting for those individuals once they hit the power button on their television.

Year after year, television channels show Christmas movies way before December. This year, the popular channel Freeform began advertising their 25 Days of Christmas special since October.

Now that October is over, people are already throwing their Christmas decorations up and are practically skipping Thanksgiving.

Why?

It seems that every passing year Thanksgiving has been losing its popularity.

Even though many people may still gather around the T.V. for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, maybe a nice football game.

I personally enjoy spending time with my family and eating all the delicious food and desserts everyone prepared.

Is Thanksgiving really worth skipping? Why are Christmas movies overruling Thanksgiving themed television movies and becoming the most popular holiday in the US? This seems to be the case for all T.V. stations.

This is because companies are really smart. They decide to show these commercials and movies on T.V. stations so it gets people in the Christmas spirit early.

This entices people to go shopping on Black Friday for Christmas gifts and decor, which allows sales for companies to go up. During the holidays, Christmas is the time where people spend the most money, and big companies want to keep it that way for their own benefit.

Think back to a moment when you wondered “Why are there so many Christmas commercials in November?” you now know why.
