Well, what do you like most about Medium?

What propels you to open your computer, click on Medium, and write and/or engage with other writers?

In response to The Challenged’s prompt for July 12: Tell us what you like most about Medium, or what you dislike most about it.

Though my initial goal when joining Medium was to make a lot of money, that hasn’t happened. Yet, I continue to write and engage.

Why is that?

Here are 5 things I like most about the Medium platform:

  1. The community — writing here is not writing in isolation. Though sometimes stories won’t get that many views, you usually get at least one comment. And if you’re not getting any, then perhaps it’s time for you to read and comment a bit more on other’s writings. The weekly writing hour is also a great way to write alongside others. Though we don’t talk to one another, there is a silent, understood goal: we are all there for the same purpose. To write.
  2. Simplicity—The user interface is very clean and easy to use. I’ve tried other writing or blogging platforms, and Medium is by far the easiest to use. There are limited tools, but it does what it needs to do.
