It is probably not a good idea

It is February 2024, and do you know what that means? Besides the numerological implications of 2/24/2024, it is a significant period.

It means it’s a leap year, and we add one additional day to the month. I’m still figuring out what to do with an extra 24 hours thrown into my schedule.

To begin with, I’m going to think.

On leap years, my thoughts always take me back to 1976. That was a leap year. And on February 28, 1976, something magical happened. I got married.

But not before I tried to convince my fiancée that we should get married on February 29 and celebrate our anniversary every four years.

That idea went right over her head and bounced back with a slurry of angry words, emotions, and distaste. It was the first time I had seen her get angry. Then I realized she didn’t have much of a sense of humor. But she was a first-generation Texan and a second-generation Italian. I should’ve known better.

But my argument was sound for a twenty-one-year-old beer-drinking college senior. The difference was either a Saturday night wedding on the 28th or a wedding on Sunday afternoon. Both times were available.
