Getting Older

What I like and dislike about it

“What do you love or hate about aging?” Nancy asks at the Challenged publication’s September Scribbles: Daily Writing Prompts to Inspire.

I decided to list one thing I like and dislike most about the aging process. Let’s keep it simple. I don’t want to scare the young ones…

Like:

With age, I learned to not worry about what people think about me. For too long, I was obsessed with people’s perceptions and what they think or say about me.

Now, I can’t be bothered. I am who I am. My latest attitude is: Take me the way I am or go bother someone else. It is freedom galore — believe me.

Dislike:

My body and my brain seem to have had different aging processes. My body shows signs of wrinkles, aches, and pains. My brain tricks me into believing I am still a younger man.

What a dichotomy to live with as detailed in the poem below.
