Lynn L. Alexander asked, How would you describe yourself to a stranger?
This was a writing prompt that I was excited to work on because who doesn’t like talking about themselves?!
William Butler Yeats famously said:
“There are no strangers here: Only friends you haven’t met yet.”
This quote is how I would start by describing myself to someone who didn’t know me.
I love meeting new people. I love human connection. I deplore small talk. I love when I meet a new person and get to learn who they really are.
My friends have described me as a “shit magnet.”
I will befriend anyone and everyone and invite them into my inner circle, without knowing much about them.
That hasn’t always been so successful.
I am a giver by nature. I love to give gifts, and I often give up my time to people I later discover can’t do so in return.
It’s not that I need them to do as much or as little as I do, but the friends I make who are willing to go the extra mile when needed are those…
