Night Sky Memories

Full moon and cloudy silver stars
play a mysterious hide-and-seek
game. A painful scabby night scar
across my memories makes me weak,

fading nighttime images of you and me —
Hand in hand on a forest sunset walk.
I ask questions about why it couldn’t be,
leaving me teary with a silent squawk.

Moonlight memories in the night sky —
You and me: Why was it a massive lie?

It’s a road less traveled in a full-moon night sky…

This poem was inspired by Pooja Vishwanathan’s prompt at the Challenged publication. Prompt: “Craft a piece of poetry inspired by a moonlit night.”

I enjoyed the contribution by Adrienne Beaumont and Pooja Vishwanathan
