I really wish I could’ve written about any other day. But the prompt says today and that’s what you’re getting.

My alarm went off at 7 am and after turning it off, I lay in bed, thinking and feeling happy it was a Sunday and I didn’t have to rush through the morning. Finally, I was up and about around 8 am feeling just a bit guilty but also consoling myself it was okay since I had the ’flu. Didn’t check my blood sugar as scheduled, postponing it to tomorrow. Checked my weight (not telling you though) and noted it in the app and then, I went off to do my happiest thing of the day. Make coffee.

Humming prayers (we call them slokas) I brought in the milk-bag from the door and poured it into a utensil for boiling. Then I added rich coffee powder to my coffee filter and heated the water. When it came to a boil, I poured it over the coffee powder and listened for the “tik tik tik” the sound of coffee percolating. I put a pan of water on the third stove to boil 2 eggs for breakfast.

It was time to light the lamp and pray. I am not religious but it is a ritual my mom enjoyed and it makes me happy to continue it. I chatted up the divine committee and made all sorts of demands. I may or may not have mentioned that I earned 0.01 cents on Medium over the last 3…
