Word/Phrase Prompt #3: Merry Go Round

Pixabay Free Use

The carousel horses are silent
As they move up and down on their poles,
And the merry-go-round keeps on turning
Bringing smiles appears one of its goals.

The equine are more than they appear
Though their bodies are not flesh and blood,
Carousel horses are plaster and paint
And towards them, the young children flood.

The fair operator smiles wryly
As parents lift their children aloft,
Placing them onto the saddles of steeds
And the merry-go-round starts off soft.

Most young lovers think it’s romantic
To engage in a carousel ride,
Bobbing in time to a musical tune
As on horses, they sit side by side.

But inside the horses are screaming
Though their anger’s not heard by the crowd,
Their desire to dislodge all these riders
As they seethe without making a sound.
