The First Official Day of Summer Downunder
Oh, how I wish for snow
1 — Julia A. Keirns — Has it snowed where you are yet? Snow creates magical landscapes. Describe the first snow of the season and how it transforms the view from your home.
Has it snowed where you are yet? No, and I can confidently predict it never will — not in my lifetime anyway. Something catastrophic would have to happen such as a huge meteor which knocks earth off its axis so Australia is located closer to the new poles.
I agree that snow creates magical landscapes. My first “experience” seeing snow was on Christmas cards when I was a child. A cute cottage with lanterns in the windows surrounded by snow and fir trees. There was no water in the ones I remember. From that moment on, I wanted to see snow!
At this time last year, I was enjoying the snowy conditions, even though they made walking harder than normal. Snow on a hard smooth surface melts as soon as my foot touches it and it’s slip-sliding through the snow valiantly trying not to land on my derrière. But I love it! On the way to Predjama Castle from Ljubljana, it snowed softly the entire way. It was heaven.
