The Jazzy July Challenge Accepted! (A Fun Walk Down Memory Lane)
A Medium Challenge strikes again with random questions.
I love the writing challenges on Medium. They stimulate the brain and fire up the memory juices to write something fun. Thank you, , for a fun challenge.
1. What was your first car?
My first car was a 1964 Corvair. My stepfather bought it for me. It needed a minor restoration, including bodywork. I did a lot of babysitting and even some ironing for cash back then, and had money saved so I could fix it up. It cost me $ 1,500.00 to get it road-ready. That was a lot for a 16-year-old back in 1975. I was so proud of that car. I had it painted a beautiful teal. It was a four-speed, and it made me feel a little like a racer.
I’ll never forget that my stepdad restricted me from driving it for a week when he witnessed me and family members doing a Chinese Fire Drill at the stop sign right outside our house. I’m sure some readers might be Googling ‘Chinese Fire Drill’ now, but back then, it was a harmless prank that got me grounded.
