The Most Fabulous 5-Minute Road Trip
A poem and then some…
the Challenged August Daily Prompt suggested by Adrienne Beaumont: What are your thoughts on road trips? Did you have a fabulous one? An awful one?
age 10 with cousin also age 10
dad picks us up in the pickup truck
we hop in the back on a sunshiny day
city kids acting like we’re in the country
no cover, no seat belt, no care in the world
the ride was legal back then
jumping the hills at full speed
bouncing out of our seats at every intersection
were there even stop signs? I guess we’ll never know
wind blowing in our hair
not a care
just good ole’ summer fun
a 5-minute road trip
that’s exactly what it was
from the top of the hill back home
life was so simple back then
just a pickup truck and some wind.
My thoughts on road trips? I’ve been on so many and have endless memories of them — singing funny songs to stay awake, scary drives through the snow, hours…
