Answering my prompt for Tuesday 14th — Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles“What’s the most wonderful thing that happened to you?”

It is funny to think of this question. The list is so long that I’d have a tough time pinpointing just one wonderful thing. The easy answer, of course is my mom. She’s hands down the most wonderful aspect of my life. You know what they say: I didn’t believe in love at first sight until I opened my eyes and saw my mom. As my mom, best friend, and mentor all rolled into one, we shared unconditional love.

Then, as usual, I pick up my 5-subject hardbound notebook and make a list. I have family I love who loves me back, friends who care, a comfortable home and I do what I love.

I appreciate all this because I grew up in a thrifty family. We were not well off but had enough love to go around, and food, shelter, and clothing. Isn’t it amazing how the basics matter and make a huge difference in our existence? Once we have that, we want more. I certainly did and worked hard to accomplish it.

Another wonderful thing that leads from there is the work I do. I am grateful I have skills and talents I can put to good use. That I have good health. In this context, I think my diabetes…
