Extreme Focus on Business Performance

Achieving goals by becoming hyper-‘specific’ about ‘units.’

Extreme focus is the reliable way to achieve goals and excellent business performance. Because goals are nothing more, or less, than a ‘specific’ definition of ‘how many units’ of ‘whatever it is’ you want (need) to ‘sell.’ Translating, directly, to how many ‘buyers’ you need to engage.

Where units is, always, the achievable ‘function:’

Unit.

There is always a circular relationship between the unit we’re ‘selling’ and the ‘units’ that are ‘buying.’ So, it’s easy, actually, if you have the proper accounting ‘data,’ to modify results based on whatever is happening. It’s always a question of ‘focus.’ Especially in a data-driven reality.

Focus. Data.

Where there is, always, also, a circular relationship between the ‘focus’ of the business, and the ‘focus’ of the customer. Why high-performing companies, and, teams, are, constantly, reviewing, and, adjusting, this (circular) focus.

This results, over time, in under-or-over performance. But, again, it is still, a matter of ‘focus’ on ‘goals.’ And, then, a constant review of what is happening against those goals.

This means business managers and developers who are most adept at strategy, changing strategy, quickly, when necessary, based on goals, and performance, will, always, outperform those who are not.

But it’s the ‘unit’ of measurement, and, the ‘unit’ that is measuring, so to speak, that must always remain in-synch. Again, a circular relationship. For sure.

Growth is, also, always, tied to a very strict focus on goals. And, before you can focus on growth, again, you have to be sure you have stated the goal. Clearly. Again, something everybody knows. But, not everybody practices.

If the goal is clearly stated, it’s impossible not to ‘achieve’ it.

Nature supports all of us. Whatever our ‘goals.’ It will return whatever we focus on. Whatever our ‘goal’ is, in units, of one kind, or an other. This is because a circular relationship is, always, in the background, no matter the business, the situation, the managers, employees. Etc. Again, it looks like this:

Business.

So, if we’re not achieving goals, it’s always because we don’t have a crystal clear focus on what the goals are.

Easy to exploit. In one way or another. Conservation of the circle is the core dynamic in Nature.
