Get Out of Your Own Way and Just Succeed, Already
A no-nonsense pep talk for anyone who wants to make it in their career, and beyond.

We all want to succeed at something.
Whether it’s at our job, a passion, a hobby, our interpersonal relationships, you name it. We all have some sort of goal we’re striving towards to facilitate a more improved version of our lives for ourselves.
That said, it can at times feel daunting to start pursuing said goal when a successful outcome is not necessarily guaranteed.
But the point is, if you don’t try, you’ll never know.
So, if you care about your dream as much as you say you do, then give it a year.
Not a half-assed year — a full, blood, sweat and tears, 110% year.
If that’s too much for you, or you decide to bow out short of those 12 months, “your absolute dream” obviously doesn’t mean all that much to you.
It may sound harsh, but it’s true.
And maybe 110% means still working in your full-time job by day, and building your side-hustle by night.
Maybe it means working late into the night or waking up earlier in the morning to get those extra hours in.
Maybe it’s putting in 30 minutes to one hour per day consistently on your goal.
Whatever your 110% looks like (it will look different for all of us), the biggest obstacle standing in the way of your possibility of achieving success is, you guessed it, you.
Breaking out of the obstacles you’ve built around yourself isn’t easy, but if you achieve doing so, a world of possibility will open up for you.
Success is not an overnight endeavour.
We’re an instant gratification society, and for that reason we have gotten too impatient to wait for our dreams to become a reality.
No, not wait. Work for our dreams to become a reality.
The only person who can make it happen for you is YOU, and the #1 guaranteed way to fail is if you give up.
Because the truth is that if you wanted it bad enough, you would stick with it and fight for the outcome you desire.
If you want your dream more than anything, then you won’t give up. You’ll work, you’ll adapt, you’ll improve, and you’ll work some more.
I’m tired of hearing other people try to knock up someone else’s success to “luck”.
If you want to be successful in this world, you have to put in the work, and the hours, and the months and the years it takes to get there. Whoever has achieved success knows this to be the absolute case.
And if you’re not willing to do that — just give up before you waste your own damn time.
Don’t wait until you feel ready. Get moving and figure it out along the way.
Voices in your head are always, always going to tell you you’re not capable enough, you’re not smart enough, you’re not good enough.
You’re not ready enough.
I can promise you one thing — even once you reach your personal definition of “success”, those voices aren’t going anywhere. On the contrary, they get louder. And you have to shout “shut the f*ck up” louder too, to silence them into submission.
If you let those negative voices in your head dictate whether you move or stay immobile, then you can guarantee yourself you’re not going anywhere.
Those voices in your head are irrelevant. You have the ability to be consistent, do the work, and get better at your craft each and every day.
Don’t let those voices win — they do not serve you, so don’t give them any undeserved attention or energy.
You need to save that attention and energy for making your dream happen for yourself.
Don’t wait for life to happen to you.
What makes you feel so entitled to have the same success as someone who put 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x of the effort and work into their dream than you did?
You need to check your entitlement, because you only deserve that which you have worked for and achieved through your own hard-willed and determined effort.
Success becomes a reality when you show up consistently every day and put in the work.
If you’re waiting for success to materialize out of thin air, without putting any effort into making that happen, you’re being an intentional and inactive participant in your own life.
Not only will nothing come, but you also aren’t deserving of success period if you’re not willing to put in the work to make it happen.
Final word.
The people who make it are the people who stick around and put in the hours to see their dream come to fruition.
The people who keep grinding away and watching their growth increase incrementally are the ones who have achieved that success you oh-so covet.
It’s up to you to make success happen for yourself.
The world doesn’t owe you a damn thing. So don’t expect it to deliver something of which you are undeserving.
Success is for those who show up day after day and give their all.
Success is for those who are consistent.
Success is for those who refuse to do anything half-assed.
Success is for those who dare to try.
Are you one of them?
