The author, a mom of a 17-year-old boy, usually drives her son to her weekly therapy appointments, however, this week they had to take the bus instead. She explains:

“It wasn’t ideal, but I’d rather the bus than miss an appointment. While it isn’t my place to share why he goes to therapy, I will say that he will often forget to eat. I usually make sure he’s fed, but due to the mess in the morning, it slipped my mind.”

The author continues that the bus was absolutely full when they boarded, and that she noticed her son seemed to be a little dizzy, so she sat him down as soon as a seat was free. However, another passenger soon boarded as well, putting the author in a tough spot:
