After several months of traveling just the two of us, January coming around meant that we were going to be reunited with loved ones, but first, we had New Year’s to celebrate!

We arrived in Valencia, Spain, and were amazed by our apartment. It was small, but cozy, with accent beams, brick accent walls, and high, vaulted ceilings. Our area was a quiet part of town, but close to the subways, so getting around was easy and convenient.

For New Year’s Eve, we went out for an 8-course evening of tapas at a restaurant that was far more luxurious (and pricey) than we’d bargained for — that said, just about any argument can be won with the logic of:

“But when will be the next time that we’ll ring in the New Year in Spain?”

Following dinner — and a glorious bottle of red wine — we headed to the Town Hall in the city center of the old town where a DJ was playing and crowds had gathered for the New Year countdown.

It was a surreal experience to ring in the New Year in Europe, sealing yet another precious memory of our trip with a kiss.

Spanish adventures of wine and sun.
