Welcome back!

After many months of trying to see as much as we could, and jumping from place to place every few days to every few weeks, my husband and I were very ready to settle somewhere for a full month, without having to pack up our bags again to move to another spot.

When choosing where we wanted to stay in Portugal, we were very aware that wherever we chose was where we were going to spend Christmas.

Now, Christmas is a very big deal for both of our families, and it’s usually a very big production that has a lot of planning, hustle and bustle, and what feels like an endless to-do list of things to get done.

With this in mind, we ultimately decided that if we were going to spend what may be our only Christmas away from home with just the two of us, we might as well do it in a completely unconventional way.

For that reason, when we stumbled upon this spacious two-bedroom apartment overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on a Portuguese island called Madeira, off the coast of Morocco, we thought that there was no better place to spend a quiet Christmas away from home.

And boy oh boy, were we ever in store for quite the experience at this location.
