“Why are some nurses so mean?”

Nursing is stuck between the healthcare industry and the service industry.

Working in healthcare is working against time. Everything needs to be done ASAP, if not now.

They can’t stitch a patient up later. They can’t clean the diarrhea later. They can’t do CPR later.

When there is always a rush, there is always stress.

Now, add that stress to the service aspect of the job and it becomes chaotic.

They need to make sure you have what you need. Food. Coffee. Warm blankets.

All this minus the tip.

It’s like working in Hell’s Kitchen but Gordon Ramsay keeps all the tips.

You won’t get smiles or friendly greetings anymore. That’s for sure.

But that’s okay because you’re alive.
