He’s cultivating his own lane and showing us just how good an indie artist can be. This CUT in Blaque artist is breaking ground on the stage and in the booth: SEVNDEEP.

SEVNDEEP (aka Darell Turner) is a thriving music artist originally born on the East Coast. Growing up in Virginia as the oldest sibling of 11 was all part of the journey that helped transform him into the musician and performer that he is today. He’s now known for his talents as a dancer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer — all of which aid him in thriving as an independent artist.

SEVNDEEP attests that a lot of his interest came from him watching music videos during his younger days working at his father's barbershop. The artist also spent some time playing sports as a kid, but soon realized that theater and dance were where his strengths truly lie. Not on the field, not on the court — on the stage. That same stage was where he got his first taste of (potential) business once he won the high school talent show. He then decided to up his skillsets by enrolling in a Digital Film Production program through Shaw University and Old Dominion University (ODU).

SEVNDEEP has been performing music professionally for almost 2 years and has made quite the name for himself. With hits such as “Break My Back”, “Hips”, and “Maneater”, the artist continues to break ground as one of the most lively openly Black, Queer musicians there is. Whether it’s with his attractive, authentic lyrics, aesthetically pleasing visuals, or vivacious energy, his talent speaks for itself. It’s also because of this talent that has landed him gigs on platforms such as performing at MOBIfest and starring on Apple TV/Out TV’s new show, Hot Haus, with the HBIC herself, Tiffany “New York” Pollard.

SEVNDEEP continues to wow us by pursuing his creativity relentlessly, and showing us just how good he is. A lot of his influences come from artists like Jay-Z, Juicy J, Missy Elliot, and Usher. However, his flow and stage presence is something that he’s cultivated on his own. The artist also mentions in an interview that he’s open to working with other musicians such as Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Cardi B, Tinashe, and a full list of others. We’re not sure when his next hit single will drop, but we’re getting ready to add it to our rotation!
