Between keeping up with her part-time design and organization business, spending quality time with her husband and two kids, and enjoying a meal at her kitchen table (that at one point served as an impromptu folding table), Rebecca Fitzsimons knows the value of a single hour. We chatted with Rebecca about her customer journey and the true value that 2ULaundry has brought to her home.

How long have you been a 2ULaundry customer for?

Definitely over two years. I was using 2ULaundry before we moved into our current house and we’ve lived here for two years. So maybe just shy of 3 years.

What are your day-to-day operations at home like?

I’m a stay-at-home mom, and I do some volunteering and design and organization work on the side when my two kids are at school. I was a busy working professional before I had kids, and my husband is a surgeon so he has a crazy schedule as well.

Wow. How are you both able to balance that all out and still get things done around the house?

When we had our daughter first, and our son shortly afterward, we kind of got thrust into this world of babies and toddlers and a never-ending list of tasks to be done like cleaning, organizing, and doing things with the kids as they got older. Over time, laundry became a complete, but necessary, nuisance that really just weighed down our to-do list.

What kinds of things were happening as a result?

I would forget and leave loads in the washing machine, which would let the clothes get mildewy, and I was having to re-wash clothes two or three times before I moved it to the dryer. My husband likes to hang dry a lot of his clothes and we just ended up having drying racks all over the laundry room and mud room. We didn’t have a big space to fold clothes, so anytime clothes came out of the dryer I would put them on my kitchen table. Friends would come over and as a result, they would offer to help fold our clothes (laughs).

That’s a visual we’re extremely familiar with. It’s funny to see what areas of your home end up acting as secondary laundry rooms.

I mean we were incentivizing babysitters to hang around and help fold. It was just not a chore that I enjoyed doing. I’d much rather do dishes or clean toilets — you name it — laundry is just not my thing.

How did 2ULaundry enter the picture?

I saw a friend of mine post something on Instagram where she was exclaiming, “This is amazing! I just sent six loads of laundry in and look at how it came back neatly and sorted by person.” I immediately thought, “What is that? I need to have it. And it was 2ULaundry!” and signed up at that moment. What was originally this daunting, annoying, endless task became something I barely have to think twice about. I think about it maybe 10 minutes per week, and that’s just when I go around collecting laundry and shove it into the 2ULaundry bags, put it on the doorstep, and it’s done!

How has having 2ULaundry changed your day-to-day?

2ULaundry not only took laundry off my list of things to do, but it also freed up more time for me to spend time and go outside with my kids. I didn’t have these extra hours of chores in the house holding me down. And when they’re at school, now I have more free time to take on a few extra clients or volunteer more. 2ULaundry has given me so much more freedom in my day.
