CFWIJ participates in United Nations CSW side event

The Coalition For Women In Journalism recently took part on a side event at the United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). Our member Jennifer Percy took part in the discussion.

The Women in Media panel was hosted by the Kingdom of Netherlands at the UN Headquarters on March 11. It looked at women’s issues and how more visibility was needed so that a more holistic understanding of soceity was made possible.

Creating spaces within media where women are more comfortable and own larger parts of the narrative is the need of the hour. The event was moderated by Dutch Women’s Representative to the UN; Clarice Gargard and Hasna El Maroudi was the brains behind the side event.

Minister for Gender Equality Netherlands Ingrid van Engelshoven gave an introduction to the panel. Apart from CFWIJ member Jennifer Percy, Out Magazine’s Raquel Willis and Associated Press’ Edith Lederer also took part in the discussion.
