New Mentors August 2018
We are thrilled to announce Sulome Anderson joining the CFWIJ as the co-director for global advocacy. Anderson has been part of the Coalition as a mentor and in this new role, she will be a key member of our team. Global Advocacy is a new area for the Coalition Fo Women In Journalism launching specifically to address the needs and difficulties we have noticed through our networks of women in the field and intimate long term mentorship programs. We hope to raise awareness about the dynamics around which women in journalism operate, which includes difficulties and victories. We also welcome a new mentors and partners to the CFWIJ who will be helping us make the invigorate a support system for women in journalism worldwide.

Malika Bilal
Malika Bilal is an international news journalist, TV host, and moderator based in Washington, DC. She is currently co-host of The Stream, an Emmy-nominated news talk show centered on online community participation, where she facilitates live on-air panel discussions while simultaneously bringing in viewer questions, comments and feedback.
Her career has afforded her the chance to interview former presidents and prime ministers, Hollywood and Bollywood stars, and artists and activists from around the world. Her favorite interviews, though, are with the people you haven’t heard of yet.
Andini Effendi
Andini Effendi is a leading journalist in Indonesia who has extensive experience working in broadcast covering important national and international stories. She has joined our team of mentors on our Asia team. Andini will be mentoring CFWIJ fellows working on Indonesia, current affairs and international issues.
Emily Rauhala
Emily is the China correspondent for the Washington Post. She was previously with TIME Magazine and has covered China and Asia in these roles for over a decade.
Alan Soon
Alan Soon is the co-founder of The Splice Newsroom, a startup which reports, documents and consults on the transformation of media in Asia. Splice delivers insights into shifting media trends through its reporting, newsletters, research and events.
Alan is Asia’s leading expert on newsroom operations, digital transformation, and building the new business of media. He also advises early-stage media-tech startups.
