Our Member Zeina Awad at #StandSpeakRiseUp Conference in Luxembourg

Our member Zeina Awad was a part of the #StandSpeakRiseUp conference in Luxumburg held on March 26 and 27.

Zeina moderated two panels at the event. The “Nothing about us without us” panel discussed the need to ensure that survivors were a part of any response devised to tackle sexual violence in fragile environment.

Often, the voices of those affected by these issues are not heard — and this panel addressed that. The panel exchanges included Norma Bastidas, Bineta Diop, Nadia Murad and Bernadette Sayo. Pierrette Pape joined as expert commentator.

Zeina was a part of a “Conclusions of the Day” panel as well, which included Mara Marinaki, Lord Ahmad, Esperande Bigirimana, Peter Maurer, Pramila Patten, Bernadette Sayo and Michelle Bachelet.

The event ended with the creation of a fund that will help fuel action against rape in times of war.
