A note on the different London codebar chapters

Since it’s humble beginnings 3 years ago, codebar London has expanded into the thriving community of learners and coaches we know today with over 2000 people subscribed to our Central London chapter alone. I’m sure you have noticed the waiting list getting longer every week and the number of attendees per event rising steadily in the past year or so. Not only that, London is a expansive city with students and coaches living scattered around it’s area, with some people having to travel up to an hour to attend certain workshops. This obviously is not an ideal situation as we want our workshops to be easily accessible by the most number of students. We also want to make sure the number of attendees at each workshop is conducive to learning (it doesn’t take us too long to organise ourselves, we have a 2 to 1 student/coach ration) and is still manageable by the codebar organisers (we found 70 is the most amount of people we can easily organise).

To combat this situation we have started running events in South London, on top of the original Central London location and we have added West London to the roster too. The South London and West London workshops are both held on consecutive Tuesdays, while the original Central London workshops are still offered in their original time slot on Wednesdays.

You are more than welcome to subscribe to all three London chapters and attend whichever workshop is most convenient for you that week. But please do not double book yourself on workshops if they happen to be on the same day (especially relevant in the case of South London and West London workshops). We do not have time to go through names and remove you from a list. Please bare this in mind when confirming your attendance for a workshop. Please also be respectful of other students: if you can no longer attend a workshop cancel your attendance through the site so someone else can take your place. Hopefully the increased number of workshops will allow more of you to dip your toes into programming and take part in the codebar experience.

We have also changed the RSVP process for the Central London chapter. We will no longer send email invitations for this chapter, instead we will announce when registrations are open on our Slack in the #london-chapters channel and on our Twitter and you will be able to RSVP to the workshops through our site. RSVP’s will open at 1PM every Friday.

We are also always looking for volunteers to help us run the London workshops. If you would like to help with a specific chapter please reach out at london@codebar.io, south-london@codebar.io or west-london@codebar.io
