Romance In a Library

Katherine was unsure what to think when she walked into the library alongside her friend and agent, Sam. They’d done readings before, and a handful of them at libraries, but never had there been a turnout like this. Could this many people have actually heard of her writing?

Greg dropped his books into the return slot before venturing into the library. For as long as he could remember, he’d been going to the library every three weeks on a Wednesday. His mother, when he was still a boy, would bring him along with her after work. For whatever reason, the routine stuck. Wednesday was library day.

On this particular Wednesday, it surprised Greg to see the academic space so busy.

“What’s happening?” he asked the head librarian.

“An author is coming in to read,” she replied. She looked down at her watch. “She should be here in ten minutes or so. I suggest you find a seat quickly if you don’t want to be standing the whole time.”

“An author? How could I not have heard about this?”
