A mother’s love

Long before you were born
I already loved you
I stroked my growing belly
And I dreamed of our first meeting
I sang to you the songs my mother sang to me
I felt the first quivers as you moved inside me
My body nourished a tiny, fragile being
And my love for you nourished me
As you grew from a seed, to a sapling to a tree
My strong, sweet little miracle
When you were born, I was reborn into joy
And even when I am one day tiny and fragile myself
You will always be my baby
