Can You Remove Your Feet Picture From My Facebook Feed?
The other day I was sitting with a friend when a picture of feet came on their feed. Curious, they clicked the post to find out what it was, and it turned out to be the feet of a married couple. I can’t remember the exact purpose, but it was something about their marriage — either it signified their stepping into their new married life, or celebrating their one-year anniversary.
But it made me grateful I deactivated my Facebook account.
I was in college when Facebook came out, and it’s still taking the world by storm. Facebook has changed the way people behave nowadays. What they eat, what they wear is all about how it’s going to look on facebook, and while I do support people taking pictures to preserve happy memories, I don’t see why they’d want to share it with the world. Especially when the world doesn’t really, really, really care to see what your feet look like.
Facebook is becoming Face-boring. It’s becoming the new-age platform of stalking others. In real life, the stalkee doesn’t want to be stalked by the stalker, but on facebook, the stalkee is going all “come follow me”.
I hope people return to their senses and only use the media for sharing interesting topics and ideas, instead of using it as a comparison stick as well as fodder for society’s gossip centers.
Until then, I’ll stay deactivated.
