Endless Summer

I feel an indescribable heaviness
in my sunken chest.
It holds the weight
of all my unmade plans.

Come back another day.
I don’t have the time right now,
as my fears fight among themselves.
Which will be victorious?

These moments are a grand illusion —
days and days and nights I lie awake
sitting on the edge of an endless summer.

It once was real.
I waited on a dream
that soon dried out in the sun.
I watched it crumble in my hands.

Everything that I had wished for
was only in the chaos of the moment.
Dreams are as fleeting as the sun.

Dreams are a grand illusion.
Days and days and nights I lie awake,
sitting on the edge of an endless summer.
Reminiscing my crumbled dreams.

Tomorrow, what we’ve dreamt of
will only be a distant memory.
