Faith is not belief it’s openness
It is a childlike sense of what can be
It is the active face of hopefulness
It’s like a prayer whose answer is a certainty
Help us to go into this realm of faith
and then to learn the simple ways of prayer
Help us to enter day by day
and make us ever more aware

Faith nurtures more than what we eat or drink
Faith springs from deep within our longing soul
It’s more than what we say or what we think
It is the very stuff that makes us whole
It matters not if we are bluff or loud
or see ourselves as those who have done harm
We’re free and fallible but faith can hold us now
and welcome us and bring joy to our heart

No matter who no matter what faith shows a way
The toughest nut to crack becomes inert
The feeblest one holds every threat at bay
Faith has a means of healing every hurt
So let us join the army that beings peace
Turn us into the partisans of right
Help us be the ones who bring release
To all who cry for solace in the night
