Life Is Beautiful: Day 18 (07/25/15) -Find Happiness FIRST, Then Success Will FollowQuote of the Day:

Life Is Beautiful.

“You told me one day the world’s gon’ need you and that might bring you to your knees / Sun is falling, and it’s your calling that you’re a star but you can see.” -Kyle Harvey, Musician

I know not that many people read my blog but to anyone who does and doesn’t know what they want to do with their life, I hope this helps.

Adults always ask, “So what are you going to college for?” “What interests you?” “What do you want to do after college?” Or even the classic question, “What do you want to do when you grow up?”

Some people know and can give a quick answer, however there are many people who don’t. If you are one of those who know, then you can stop reading here. For those who feel lost and overwhelmed, then keep reading.

Everyone wants to be successful in life. Often times people will chase a future that isn’t genuine. Often times people will sell-out to get the riches and the fame. The things people do to get money and celebrity usually comes from a place of desire, lust and desperation.

(Yes I agree, having a miserable day when you are very wealthy and have economic FREEDOM is better than having a miserable day and not being to afford your bills and explore this entire world has to offer. However, a loving family changes the argument but let’s not go down this road right now. The argument here is not: would you rather be rich with no love or poor with a lot of love? I’m trying to go somewhere else with this and I hope I can convey the message because this is one of the most important lessons you can learn.)

When adults interrogate you with those questions they always respond with, “It’s okay you still have time.” No. Don’t listen to that. I HAD adults telling me that when I was too afraid to reveal my dreams to the world. I was just starting college and I was being told I still had time. Do you know I messed up two years of my life because I listened to the “still have time” nonsense. I WAS too afraid to tell the world my dreams and ended up applying to colleges that didn’t make sense. I ended up getting rejected from five colleges all on my birthday when I didn’t have to. I never applied to colleges in New York City the first application process. The thing is that I knew what I wanted but was too afraid to share it. I acknowledge a lot of people genuinely don’t know what they want, however.

You don’t need to know right now. That’s the difference with my response and the response of an adult. You have time to explore and find what you want to do, but you don’t have time to just coast through life and wait for something to click. I repeat you MUST explore. Try new things. It won’t just come. And by try knew things that doesn’t mean get a job, join a club or meet new friends (it could but isn’t the only way) it means THINK. It means, turn off your phone, the television, your computer and maybe even the music and just think. Don’t think about what you are talented at, think about what makes YOU happy. Just because you are talented at baseball doesn’t mean you enjoy doing it.

Make a mental or physical list of everything that makes you happy. Even the littlest things. If ice cream makes you happy, put it on the list! If skateboarding makes you happy, put it on the list! If playing video games makes you happy, put it on the list! If folding the towels makes you happy, put it on the list! If watching movies with Jessica Alba as the main actress makes you happy, put it on the list!

Then just do what you have on your list. Start with your favorite thing to do and work your way down.

If it makes you genuinely happy then YOU WILL be successful doing it. You will have the interest and motivation to do it. You will work extra hard doing whatever you love because it is fun and gives you so much joy.

You may ask, “How can I get a career with just watching videos of Jessica Alba?” And to you I say, “If no career exists, create one!”

Example (this is a pretty weak example but you get the idea): Make a YouTube channel where you review all the movies she has appeared in. People will see your genuine enjoyment making the videos and will be drawn into you. Then maybe you could interview Jessica herself and you will be super duper happy. You will find the most success when doing something that brings happiness into your life is basically my main point.

If you don’t know what my career goal is (then you haven’t read the “about” section on my website) it’s to be a comedic talk show host. Yes, the byproduct of being on television will lead to money and celebrity, but that is not why I chose the profession. I am pretty good at making people laugh, but that is not why I chose the profession. The reason why is because every time I think about being able to have my own show and bless the world with my awkwardness I feel genuine happiness. I chose my profession because it makes me happy.

It’s 2015 and there is no reason that you should suffer everyday for the rest of your life wanting to do something else. I promise, even the most difficult jobs to get into (one being television, film and entertainment) are possible. Because your passion will shine through all of the fakers. You will rise to the top. And you won’t have to live everyday regretting why you didn’t follow your dream.

Too many people just get complacent with choosing the job that pays the bills and feeds the family. Money is freedom, don’t forget that. But if you start young, everything is so much easier (I said easier still if you are older nothing is impossible). You don’t have a family to provide for. You don’t have a child to feed. You can focus on yourself (one of the few times in life you can). Take the leap starting today.

Tell the people closest to you what you really LOVE doing. Don’t be afraid. If you have to write a letter to your parents about what you really want to do with your life then do that. Get it off your chest. I know most people are hiding the truth. It’s difficult. People will judge you. People will 100% doubt you. Most people will try to get you to stop. DON’T. Don’t give up a life full of happiness for people that don’t have faith in you.

And don’t sell-out for money and fame. It won’t be as good as you think. If those things are a byproduct of what you love to do, then so be it. Live a happy life. And don’t aspire to be average. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. We are blessed with so much and people still choose to live an average life. By that I mean a life where you don’t turn the world into a better place. If you have lived your whole life and haven’t improved something in society, changed at least one person’s life for the better or achieved greatness that will be appreciated for years to come, then what’s the point to just EXIST?

Don’t exist. Be happy. Help others. Change the world. Whether it be big or small. Don’t strive for fame. Don’t strive for money. Strive for love, and happiness. All of that will make you feel successful. Nothing else.

P.S. Jessica Alba please call me!

I know I promised more pictures but this post was extra long and pictures don’t really complement the subject matter. Also, today I washed my Grandparent’s’ front porch, for those who care about my daily life. That was tedious but it was good to get me out of the house. Then my Dad and I got some errands accomplished. We got one of my suits fitted for my cousin’s wedding. We got a Apple USB Superdrive because our computers don’t have optical disk drives (we can’t use CD’s or DVD’s on our computer without it). Then we bought two hair combs for me because I needed a comb that wouldn’t tear my hair out. I saw this girl who went to my high school working at the place so I had my Dad checkout to avoid confrontation. Then we went to the cemetery to water. Then we got gasoline for the car. Then we came home and I made a Steak-Ummm sandwich. Now I am here.

I also added a music and sports tab to the website and from now on I’ll be posting two times a day. One will be a post in the “Life Is Beautiful Series” and the other in music, or sports. I am trying to broaden what I talk about and write about other topics that genuinely interest me and MAKE ME HAPPY.
