Lockdown entries #7
From today’s prompt of The Isolation Journal
“Hey dude. How are you? How are you holding up? How is Devi?”
‘She is inside the ward now. It is going to take a lot of time dude. She had only went inside a couple of hours back.
I am staying surprisingly calm, given the circumstances.’
On hearing this, my mother successfully manages to get my attention and leer amidst the cacophony of the waiting room. Kids are crying, kids are running around, families are huddled together whispering to each other, and the PA system announces the names of each patient.
I know what that leer meant.
Couldn’t you keep your voice down while saying stuff like this? Other people might notice.
“Requesting the bystander of Devi come to the ward. Requesting the bystander of Devi come to the ward.”
'Okay dude. I am hanging up. They are calling us.’
“It’s probably to buy some clothes for her, afterwards. She might have bled in the current one.”
We pass the corridor onto the main ward. A security guard, opens the door with a warm smile and tells us to wait outside the door.
“Bystanders of Devi?”
'Yes'
“Congratulations. She has given birth to a baby girl. Would you like to see her?”
