Love ever seemed so Greek to me

Grainy playground sand smelled of rain and dahlia

Memory still eluded the capitals of Ohio and California

School nights and warm milk steered us away from insomnia

Hershey kisses and milk duds our only memorabilia

Innocence painted the bright colors on our days of Philia

Pigtails turned to pixies, bangs and fringes

Tame-less age, yearning rock music and ruckus

Pubescence feigning to increase the curious gap between us

Prom night gleaming in disco lights, our Olympus

Flirty jabs and stolen glances, the language of our Ludus

Jobs in line but dreams pushed to side-rows

On bases we graded our intimacy scores

Lonely nights, our sigh-filling throes

Twitter or snap chat not quenching our passion woes

Fiery red it burned, our flame of Eros

Parting ways to feed the little lump inside our crania

Skipped dinner dates and missed calls tainted our Utopia

Memories fading like the lands of Mesopotamia

Would I lose you forever?, a phobia

Ego and jealousy turned pages of our Mania

Heart finally scorning brain’s dogma

A ring on my finger you adorned to end all the drama

The stork brought us an angel deeming me ‘Mama’

Cinder and smoke replaced our ever burning magma

Summer dresses, hand bags and stilettos now a stigma

Yet your good night kisses were the elixir of our Pragma

A superwoman I was to her just short of a cape

A tear in her eyes got you reaching for your chape

Hands too full without a welcome escape

We danced and grooved to her tape

Finally etching our hearts in endless Agape

Love ever seemed so Greek to me
