The void has a way,
of leading you astray,
and taking you away,
to doomsday’s play.

Life speeds past you,
out of the blue,
as you stay astute,
to all but the view.

A myriad of thoughts,
experience bouts,
these battles you’ve fought,
with all that doubt.

Along the arduous path,
you found some hearts,
valuable counterparts,
to deal with the aftermath.

A journey so diverse,
it kept getting worse,
like walking in reverse,
overcome with remorse.

Held your breath with each step,
like walking on the edge —
every move a doubtful sweep,
into an abyss ever so deep.

Every fall,
every wake-up call,
made you feel so small
and want to give away all.

Each time, you fought your way up,
half-filling your cup,
trying not to erupt,
at the next blowout.

Through the twists and turns,
respect took time to earn,
with so much to learn,
and only gratitude to return.

Looking back at the times
the wind blew through the chimes,
bringing with it sunshine,
and hope sublime.

Laughter, joy, and everything in between,
the tears that form are for how things have been,
but it’s time to wipe the slate clean,
and head onward with an eye ever so keen.

This is not the end,
but a beginning to lend,
as you start to fend,
until the next chapter comes to an end.
