The Coney that stayed the same.

In Brooklyn, across from Nathans on Coney Island, on the other side of Surf Avenue, stands a yellow building. Looks like an old hotel or office building. This was actually the Shore theater, and later, Loews.

Very popular venue in the 1920's-60's. Plays were performed here in the early days, then movies.

When they first started dating, when the skies became dark and poured rain on the Coney beach, my Mom and Dad ran into here.

Long before myself or my brothers and sisters were here.

I was/am obsessed with this structure. It’s been locked tight since the 1970's, where it had since became a porn theater. (Projectors still in there with XXX reels, cut off and looked at a clip with the light coming through. Yep. That’s two guys and a woman)

With a bridge built from ladders and ropes, I climbed and walked across from a garage roof of a local business to the second floor ledge of the theater.

The story of how I entered will stay a mystery. I believe the place has not had a visitor since the gates were padlocked decades ago.

Not a footprint anywhere, just untouched dust as a floor. Almost like a carpet.

What a beautiful place.

The actors that played here, looking into the mirrors of these dressing rooms. Those that stood on this now collapsed stage. That wall of a curtain closing with applause and cheers…

Now just a web that falls apart and disappears when touched.

So quiet and cold.

Enjoy the pictures. Enjoy the summer.
