I could mention all the research about how so many people feel, well, worse after being on Facebook.

(Not that it’s happened to you, right?)

But you’re busy, so I’ll get to the point:

Here’s how to use Facebook so you’ll always feel better instead of worse:

  1. Filter out people you don’t personally know or like
  2. Read what’s left (but don’t do it just because you’re bored)
  3. When you see something that speaks to you, call that person on the phone (and always, if they don’t answer, leave a message saying something of what you wanted to tell them)

You’ll know you’re successful when:

  • you figure out that using Facebook doesn’t leave you feeling bad
  • you realize you’re spending less time on Facebook
  • you discover you’re talking more to people who mean something to you

It’s that simple.

PS: You’ll know you’re a rock star when you find yourself spending more time talking than you do reading Facebook.
