When the reality hits (real hard!)

In an era like ours where we have mornings devoid of rooster calls waking us up, there has to be some or the other passion driving and compelling us to rise up and live up to it. We are more than occupied with the sublime reflections of what we ‘imagined’ and ‘thought’, that we never realize when we go astray from our ‘decided’ paths. We start off well with high spirits (and higher expectations) and end up feeling lost. What goes wrong in the middle is a riddle still unresolved.

Amidst all the unlearning and re-learning, we tend to forget the quintessential driving forces which earlier used to bind our heart and soul together. Instead of continuously evolving and broadening our horizons, we start limiting ourselves and make this monotony a rut. Like an animal tethered to one corner of the field, we get habitual of surviving on the limited pastures. But, there’s a difference we overlook! Animals are constrained not by their choice, but by force. We on the other hand, are a species fond of fettering ourselves by our own preoccupations. We keep settling in our zones and start building impervious walls around. We get increasingly reluctant to step out (even for good!). The once dynamic dreams transform into an elusive concept in a jiffy.

It works well till the time we are active participants and have profound roles to play in determining the turn of events in our life; it gets fuzzy the moment we become mere spectators and start waiting in anticipation of what would unfold next. That’s the high time we introspect and take charge of our lives instead of helplessly yelping. We need to be clear with the notions that cannot be tweaked, the standards we won’t compromise with.

All our lives we try and make sense of how we wish our lives to be and are full to the brink with all that we wish to accomplish. How do these exalted ideas get obsolete so easily?

Even the sand particles are slower to slip from a fist, compared to the swiftness with which we let our dreams go!
