We are thrilled to announce the 2024 Front Range Book Prize winner and finalists! From more than 100 manuscripts of all types, lengths, styles, and genres submitted to Alternating Current Press for the book prize, we narrowed the reading down to this shortlist and selected a winner.

The Front Range Book Prize celebrates Colorado authors and themes, and our winner, Krista Hanley, is a native of Colorado with a uniquely Colorado story that needs to be told and retold and retold: a memoir of the 1999 Columbine school shooting and how to survive everyday life after collective mass trauma. Hanley receives $1,000 + publication at Alternating Current Press, including full publicity, worldwide distribution, and a Colorado book tour of readings and signings throughout the state.

Congrats, as well, to our finalists, who made our job in deciding very difficult, and whose manuscripts deserve additional commendation and recognition.

Winner!

How to Survive a Mass Shooting by Krista Hanley

Finalists

Beam of Life by Sarah Kozloff
Dragon Year by T. Dallas Saylor
Riverine and Other Tales of Terra Mater by Kayann Short
