Alternating Current is bringing you a stellar AWP18 Thursday night offsite reading on March 8, 2018.

AWP Tampa offsite reading event, sponsored by Alternating Current Press, and featuring: Alexander Chee, Paul Lisicky, Jared Yates Sexton, Rion Amilcar Scott, Steph Post, Ruth Awad, Eric Shonkwiler, and Tabitha Blankenbiller.

Jet City Espresso, Seminole Heights location, 5803 N Florida Ave, Tampa, March 8, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. FREE event, and we’ll have FREE swag and a FREE raffle to win autographed books and prizes throughout the night. Readers will sign.

THE READERS

ALEXANDER CHEE is the author of How to Write an Autobiographical Novel: Essays, The Queen of the Night, and Edinburgh. He is the winner of a Whiting Award, an NEA Fellowship, an MCCA Fellowship, and residency fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the VCCA, Civitella Ranieri, and Amtrak. He is an Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College.

PAUL LISICKY is the author of The Narrow Door (a New York Time’s Editors’ Choice), Unbuilt Projects, The Burning House, Famous Builder, and Lawnboy. He is a Guggenheim Fellow and has received awards from the NEA, James Michener/Copernicus Society, Yaddo, and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. He has taught at Cornell, NYU, Sarah Lawrence, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and is currently an Associate Professor in the MFA Program at Rutgers University Camden.

JARED YATES SEXTON is the author of The People Are Going to Rise like the Waters upon Your Shore, An End to All Things, The Hook and the Haymaker, I Am the Oil of the Engine of the World, and other books. He is a political correspondent whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Republic, Salon, and elsewhere, and he currently serves as an Associate Professor of Creative Writing in the Department of Writing & Linguistics at Georgia Southern University.

RION AMILCAR SCOTT is the author of Insurrections, the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction winner. He has been awarded the Mary Roberts Rinehart award, a Completion Fellowship from George Mason University, a Kimbilio Fellowship, placement on the Wigleaf Top 50 Very-Short Fictions list, and as a notable in Best American Essays.

STEPH POST is the author of A Tree Born Crooked, Lightwood, and Walk in the Fire. She is the recipient of the Patricia Cornwell Scholarship for creative writing from Davidson College and the Vereen Bell writing award, and was a finalist for The Big Moose Prize. Her fiction has appeared in the anthology, Stephen King’s Contemporary Classics, and in numerous other literary outlets.

RUTH AWAD is the author of Set to Music a Wildfire, which won the Michael Waters Poetry Prize. She is a Lebanese-American poet who is also the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award, two Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prizes, and the Copper Nickel Poetry Contest prize, as well as a finalist placement for a Ruth Lilly Fellowship.

ERIC SHONKWILER is the author of Above All Men, 8th Street Power & Light, and Moon Up, Past Full. He is the winner of the Coil Book Award, Luminaire Award for Best Prose, and a Midwest Connections Pick by the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association. He was a Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow at the University of California Riverside and a New River Gorge Winter Writer-in-Residence in West Virginia.

TABITHA BLANKENBILLER is the author of Eats of Eden. She graduated from the Pacific University MFA in Writing program and has written essays for Electric Literature, The Rumpus, Bustle, Catapult, Hobart, Brevity, and other venues, and has been anthologized in the Not My President and All That Glitters collections.
