The Coil

Post-Script: Denali

Poem by Andrea L. Hackbarth

All the irresponsible light
of summer compressed
into the midnight highway.
I lay my body across

its yellow middle
eyes open to the not-quite
sunset to the almost dawn

hung in drunken limbo
with the orange clouds

and there were never any cars.
