The Alcubierre Drive worked perfectly, and it was one of a kind. It allowed for faster-than-light travel without barely moving.

The drive shifted the space around it: the space in front of the drive contracted and the space behind it expanded.

Once the required energy level had been reached, the ship was then able to move forward and cross the gap between the two points.

But it was so much more than that.

An incoming ship could never approach if the space between the two expanded, and the drive had been set up for that.

It even made the ship capable of dodging projectiles; to an attacker, it merely seemed like these were moving in slow motion.

It was an incredible way of reaching a point, but also a means of escaping pursue.

A beautiful, sophisticated, piece of machinery.

And powerful.

So much so that right after it was created if fell in the hands of the military and, not long after that, within the military, it fell into the wrong hands.

Now, the universe would finally witness the ultimate power of the drive, a whole planet would witness what the ship was capable of.

The general issued the order and the drive was turned on.

By contracting a mere 100,000 kilometers, the required time to generate the field was brought down to seconds.

The ship, however, did not move, it stood in space as the telescopes observed from the planet’s surface.

And the ship kept waiting.

And it waited until the planet’s orbit crossed the field.

And as the planet was crossing, the drive was turned off, cracking the planet in two and sending the message across the system that the general was now in control.
