The usefulness of drones

The drone covered the city, street by street, photographing and analyzing each and every bit.

It seldom needed to go back to base: solar panels on top, reliable equipment on the bottom, transmitters everywhere.

The population had grown accustomed to the drones, even more since their noise had come down.

The drone company sold the data to several others, who used it to find potential clients, problems, etc.

One of those clients had been crunching on the data.

Their code correlated pictures, GPS data, and open data from the city, along with information from some other sources.

It had processed information of the past year, and it had now been looking for a pattern for the past few weeks.

Finally, it showed up, and a meeting was called.

Six people in a room, as the pictures and some graphics were shown.

Historical real estate data has allowed them to map the most expensive areas in the city.

These pictures were from an extremely expensive neighborhood.

There were absolutely no people in any of the pictures, regardless of what time they’d been taken.

There were patterns of domotics, with blinds seemingly opening and closing every day at the same time.

Everything in the house seemed to be automated.

There was a short presentation on the subject.

There were no questions.

- It’s the same pattern on three adjacent houses, plus two others on the other side of the street. It’s an expensive neighborhood and they’re all on vacation at the same time. Tonight, we’re robbing the house on the center.
