Coinbase Commerce is one of the first non-custodial cryptocurrency payment solutions that enables merchants anywhere in the world to accept cryptocurrency payments directly from their customers. We’ve been hard at work the past few weeks and are happy to announce a WooCommerce plugin and a few other new features.

WooCommerce Plugin

For merchants using WooCommerce, one of the most popular eCommerce platforms on the web, it’s now easier than ever to start accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment. The widely-used plugin powers more than 28% of all online stores — and all of them now have access to cryptocurrency payments from customers around the world. This increased access will lead to more widespread adoption, and ultimately, moves us closer to our goal of an open financial system. You can find our WooCommerce plugin here on Github.

Sending Bitcoin and Litecoin

We’ve recently shipped new functionality to allow for the sending of Bitcoin and Litecoin directly from Coinbase Commerce. We’re working hard to enable similar functionality for Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash.

React Payment Button

Embedding a payment button on your website is a quick and easy way to start accepting cryptocurrency payments, whether it’s to accept donations for an open source project or to sell tickets to your event. If you’re using React, you can now embed a Coinbase Commerce checkout within your React application using our newly released React component.

Python Library

To increase cryptocurrency adoption, it needs to be easily accessible. We’re excited to announce a Python library for the Coinbase Commerce API, the first of a few libraries to be released. We’re also building additional client libraries for Node.js, Ruby, and PHP!

Note that all payments made through Coinbase Commerce are truly peer-to-peer — when customers send money from their cryptocurrency wallet it’s sent directly to a merchant-controlled cryptocurrency address and processed on-chain by the respective blockchain. This means merchants never have to pay transaction fees to accept payments and always remain in complete control over their funds.

We’re just getting started on our quest to make cryptocurrencies an easy payment option and are continually improving Coinbase Commerce based on your awesome feedback. If you have an idea for a feature or product enhancement, tell us on Twitter at @CommerceCB.
