Congratulations to MEng IEOR ’12 alum Han Jin for being named in Forbes’ 2018 “30 Under 30” in Consumer Technology!

Han Jin, MEng Class of 2012; the LucidCam, a portable camera for AR/VR 3D content creation

Han is co-founder and CEO of Lucid, the creators of the first consumer “VR180 3D” camera. Their device is easy-to-use and as small as a smartphone, with the power to capture 4K , 3-dimensional video. The 180° camera captures a full peripheral field of vision while filming in 3D adds depth and realism to the content — revolutionizing the way we capture and view augmented/virtual reality. (The LucidCam is available at Amazon and LucidCam.com.)

Han graduated with his Berkeley MEng in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) with the Class of 2012, the Fung Institute’s inaugural graduating class. Afterwards he worked at SanDisk and went on to create several startups in AR/VR, robotics, and artificial intelligence before founding Lucid in 2015. He also won an Edison Award in Cameras & Virtual Reality this year for the LucidCam. So far Lucid has raised $2.8 million.

“Forbes’ 30 Under 30 is a great recognition, but my focus will remain on the bigger picture and impact I want to accomplish with Lucid,” Han commented. “It is important to acknowledge small wins in the tides of startup life, but never let it derail you from the vision ahead.

It all started with the MEng program, where I found my passion for entrepreneurship and access to an incredible UC Berkeley community with the Fung Institute, and Skydeck for being a crucial part of my journey.”

Congratulations, Han!
