Today marks a big milestone for my team and Bang & Olufsen, having just announced our first soundbar. Sound democracy may sound like a strange concept to some. But to us, exceptional sound is something everyone should have.

A brief look in the past

The year was 1950 and Bang & Olufsen was celebrating its 25th anniversary, wanting to show the world what the future of electronic home entertainment was going to look like. At the annual Radio Trade Fair in Copenhagen is showcased the first even Bang & Olufsen Television, a year before television transmission had even started in Denmark. (via)

Since then television has been a significant proposition in the company’s portfolio, always providing the perfect and uncompromising combination of picture and sound performance. And of course domesticated design, matching to how people have been living at the different decades, as we have been evolving from the 1950s to today…

In the pursuit of perfection the company has been also adapting the way it develops products and collaborates with leading partners in this space (see my previous article “Beovision Harmony — How Bang & Olufsen created the best television LG ever made”), to make sure the offering is always the best we can provide to our customers, for the best cinematic experiences.

Bring Bang & Olufsen sound to your TV

But not everyone might be up for the grand cinematic experience of a Beovision Harmony or a Beovision Eclipse. This is where the new Beosound Stage comes in. What if you could keep the 3rd party TV of your choice, yet add the best possible sound, the Bang & Olufsen signature sound, to it? The Beosound Stage is a soundbar that gives all TV owners access to the powerful sound, craft and design of Bang & Olufsen. So no reason to settle down on the flat screen’s audio, with Beosound Stage we give everyone the Bang & Olufsen sound.

Soundbar as an interior piece

Beosound Stage is designed in collaboration with Danish studio NORM Architects as part of Bang & Olufsen’s design strategy to humanize technology: Working with simple geometric shapes, using natural materials, Bang & Olufsen creates meaningful products that integrate beautifully into the home.

As a testament to unmatched craftsmanship, the natural and bronze tone frames are made from a single piece of forged aluminium, resulting in no visible seams. The smoked oak version features traditionally crafted dovetail joints, a detail typically seen in fine Scandinavian cabinetry.

Powerful room filling sound that does not need a subwoofer

By offering 3 channel sound system with superior center channel and left/right stereo, spiced with Dolby Atmos, the latest evolution in multichannel audio. Dolby Atmos works by heightening the soundstage, giving the audio a three-dimensional effect. Moreover it is powerful enough to avoid having a subwoofer. Beosound Stage offers an extraordinarily high-performing all-in-one solution that stands out in the market through its sound performance.

Integrated audio streaming for a multipurpose soundbar

Besides being a thrilling TV sound companion, Beosound Stage can also work as your music system. Integrating the latest audio streaming technologies Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, supports the latest open ecosystems (see also my previous article: “How Bang & Olufsen moved from proprietary tech to open ecosystems without losing its soul”). And of course it is part of the “multiroom” family of products.

The perfect add-on

Beosound Stage is the perfect experience add-on, providing finally Bang & Olufsen sound to any 3rd party TV, while also being the perfect add-on member to a multiroom family of products. Not to mention that is also the perfect add-on for your home interior…

Beosound Stage will be available globally in late autumn 2019.
