How far will you go to gain equal civil rights and respect in the society that only men enjoy? For the Suffragettes of the early 20th century, they were willing to give up everything for women’s succeeding generations to have space, voice, and right to vote.

However, before society acknowledged their existence, the Suffragettes experienced hell and high water. They endured countless abuse that history did not take long to overlook. Whenever modern women run for office in the government, the Suffragettes had to fight with their lives just for the chance to vote.

Suffragists vs. Suffragettes

The women’s suffrage is a movement to grant women the right to vote in the election, which began in the mid-19th century. In 1881, the Isle of Man gave women the right to suffrage only if they owned a property. But the first nation allowed women to vote was New Zealand in 1893, followed by South Australia in 1894, and the Suffragists administered them.
