How to Contribute to The Collector [Revised]
Publication guidelines
We appreciate any interest in contributing to The Collector.
Our publication seeks to curate well-reasoned pieces that employ formal rhetoric and span the topics of History, Arts, Politics, Feminism, Culture, Racism, and LGBTQ.
Starting today (22th August 2022), we’ll not be able to accept listicles on historical trivia, true crime or variations thereof.
While we have nothing against such articles and have in fact seen a surge in the publication’s popularity with them, this is not the direction we want to take the publication in.
As always, we encourage unique perspectives, thought pieces and original content, our publication has many standards that must be upheld for a submission to be published.
Aspiring contributors are strongly encouraged to read through Medium’s Curation Guidelines if they have not already, as they closely mirror our submission guidelines, and evaluate whether their piece contains the characteristics that qualify or disqualify curation.
To submit a piece, please send an email or draft link to collector.medium@gmail.com for review.
If accepted, you will be added as a contributor and notified via email. Notified contributors do not need to submit forms for future submissions.
Submission Requirements
While all aspiring contributors are strongly encouraged to review Medium’s Curation Guidelines, several key requirements are outlined below. Please consider them carefully.
We strongly recommend that you use Grammarly or a similar tool to edit and revise your article before submitting your draft.
Contributors must not underestimate the risk of copyright infringement for images or other incorporated media and ensure proper citation or licensing is provided.
Pieces must be written with a sense of maturity and be without any profanity, spelling, grammatical, or punctual error. We reserve the right to refuse any piece which is sexist, racist, targets individuals, targets organizations or businesses, refers to pedophilia, sexual abuse, or pieces that are deemed by our editors to be offensive.
No piece or contributor is exempt from Medium’s Rules and Terms of Service. Contributors own the rights to the content they post; the risks concerning intellectual property, libel, plagiarism, and other legal disputes are therefore shouldered by the author. Articles may be edited or removed from our publication at any time.
Submission Logistics
The following tags are strongly encouraged and their inclusion will increase a submission’s chance of acceptance — History, Art, Politics, Feminism, Culture, Racism, and LGBTQ. Other tags are certainly welcome and will aid in the piece’s curation or distribution.
