Always encouraging peaceful demonstrations without violence, Dr. King was the subject of much violence against him and his supporters. He was arrested many times and beaten by the police as he fought against racism for years.

He did groundbreaking work against inequality in the 1950s and 1960s. His dream was for this nation was the dream for his children, that they would not have to face racism at every turn.
