Magritte’s At the Threshold of Liberty. Not described in the essay/list.

The infinite, dopamine-filling, trippy and relaxing rabbit hole of Pinterest took me once more by surprise. Entering the door to the downwards tunnel of a “tattoo” search I found Magritte. More specifically, beautifully made tattoos replicating Magritte’s surrealist paintings. There were (mostly) all of the famous paintings, The Son of Man, The Treachery of Reality, The Lovers, The False Mirror, and a lot of less famous paintings. Though one might have to remark the fact that many “lesser known” paintings of Magritte are still pretty known. In fact, people had tattoos of The Castle of the Pyrenees, The Empire of Light, and more.

On that note, I thought of putting together three paintings of Magritte that are not obscure, but that not everyone might necessarily know.

Interestingly, while searching for the paintings and reading more about them, I encountered other paintings by Magritte, writings on Magritte, and biographical conferences on Magritte, with the result of having written the titles for at least another five essays on his work. The point is, I think, that Magritte matters.
