I love mediocrity! Why shouldn’t I? Throughout our early lives, the world conspires to peddle a set of achievements to us which is nothing but a sure shot method to spend a life marinating in mediocrity. But hey, mediocrity is awesome!

Until the age of 25, I did everything that Indian Society has demanded off me. A list of achievements to be ticked off, the end result of which is bone crippling mediocrity. But honestly, why even attempt to succeed with the risk of failure when there’s a path that leads to guaranteed, failure-less mediocrity? Mediocrity is awesome!

Take Science group so that you can get into Engineering. Get a sales job so that you can get into a good B-school. Do an MBA so that you can get a stable managerial job and live a life waiting for the 30th of every month and count your commissions and Mutual Fund savings until you get the sweet release of death. Because hey, mediocrity is awesome!

“Don’t play sports if it gets in the way of education. Not everyone becomes a Sachin Tendulkar”

“Don’t get into theatre if it gets in the way of education. Not everyone becomes a Shah Rukh Khan”

Fuck it, avoid having an iota of creativity if it gets in the way of you becoming an emotionless, mass produced robot. Creativity is cancer, in the religion of mediocrity. It might get in the way of you being a nameless, faceless slave in an IT firm because hey, slavery is mediocrity and mediocrity is awesome!

Why even risk the chance of not succeeding at something you like, when you can eliminate failure by doing something you hate?

Mediocrity is lifelong. Choose your mediocrity. I’m 26 now. Not an MBA anymore, but an unknown writer and comedian. Still mediocre, but at-least on my terms.
